Pickled Peppers

Today I harvested these hot cherry peppers and jalapenos from the garden:


and promptly turned them into these (some cucumbers got pickled too, as you can see in the background):



Aside, if anyone knows why my jalapenos have those lines on them, let me know.  It’s been a bizarre season here in the NorthEast – I have not watered my garden since the end of May.  Literally.  I have not watered my garden for 10 full weeks due to excessive rain.  My pepper plants are stunted in terms of size, but with lots of fruit on them.  Unfortunately, the fruit looks a little funny, as you can see from the striations…  As I sliced up the jalapenos, I also got to thinking that they weren’t quite ripe yet – they were very firm.
